11 top events you can still go to this summer across Liverpool

We may already be halfway through August, but if you thought summer was almost over, think again.

The season is heating up with plenty of events you can still go to, from some of the best music festivals to dog shows and food and flower shows…

Southport Flower Show 2022

Strictly’s Janette and Aljaz, Hairy Biker Si King and children’s favorite Justin Fletcher – aka Mr Tumble – are among the star guests at this year’s Southport Flower Show. The four-day summer festival celebrates all things flora and fauna with stunning gardens and spectacular displays, alongside entertainment – live music, dog shows and stunt shows among others – and children’s activities, including workshops and hands-on fun with Imagine it !. There will be more than 300 trade stalls, a great food court and tons more… it will be busy.

Brighton’s new summer festival

New Brighton Summer Festival returns again this year from Wednesday 24th August to Monday 29th August. Each day there will be fun for all the family with continental themed stalls offering food from around the world, quirky crafts and fair stalls, all lining the New Brighton prom. The festival will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday and Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

International Beatleweek

Liverpool

More than 70 bands from over 20 countries will arrive in Liverpool this month to celebrate the Fab Four. The annual International Beatleweek festival will run from Wednesday, August 24 to Tuesday, August 30, with live music, exhibits, memorabilia, guest speakers, video screenings, tours and a convention. There will be live music on the Cave’s three stages every day and, a highlight of this 36th year, it will be a ‘Lennon’ lineup when Earl Slick, Tony Levin and Andy Newmark perform the ‘Lennon 1980’ headline show at Philharmonic Hall on Friday, August 26. All three performed on John’s last studio album, Double Fantazi, as well as sessions for the album Milk and Honey. They will be joined by actor and musician Mark McGann in this special tribute.

The festival of memories

The ultimate Old Skool disco party that everyone loves is back at Sherdley Park on Saturday 10th September. DJ Lee Butler and team will be presenting acts across three stages in St Helens Park, with music stars including 2 Unlimited, Rozalla, Baby D, Boyzlife, Five and Liberty X, and top DJs including Dave Pearce, John Cotton, Tall Paul, Anton Powers and Pat Sharp.

Fields of cream

It’s the 25thth anniversary of the famous dance music festival and the organizers have ensured that the silver jubilee event will be a good one. Pulling out all the stops means festival-goers at the event in Daresbury – from Thursday 25 August to Sunday 28 August – can expect to see an amazing line-up including (wait for it!): Eric Prydz who brings His HOLO show, Alesso, Becky Hill, Fatboy Slim, MK, Idris Elba, Scooter, Charlotte De Witte, Example, Jax Jones, Chase & Status (DJ Set), Joel Corry, Sonny Fodera, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike , Pete Tong, Kolsch , Paul Oakenfold, Skepsis, Solardo, Yousef, Paul Van Dyk, Will Sparks, Syreeta and oh so many more.

Liverpool ONE Dog Show

Radio presenter Leanne Campbell is presenting the Liverpool ONE Dog Show when it returns to Chavasse Park on Sunday, September 11. It’s a fantastic family event with competitions like Cutest Puppy and Waggiest Tail judged by a panel of canine experts. There will be lots of prizes and lots of fun.

Liverpool Theater Festival

The fantastic award-winning theater festival returns for the third consecutive year from Wednesday 31st August to Sunday 11th September. The action will once again center around the festival’s iconic St Luke’s Bombed-Out Church, with drama, comedy, opera, cabaret, musical theatre, children’s shows and more, filling a jam-packed programme. Tickets are now on sale for a number of performances, including the opening act, I Wish My Life Was Like a Musical; a visit from Laughterhouse Comedy on Friday, September 2; You’ll Never Walk Alone, a drama based on the Hillsborough disaster on Friday 9 September and Looking For Me Friend – The Music of Victoria Wood on Sunday 11 September.

Scouse Ma’s Big Night out

Scouse Ma is back with another fantastic night and, this time, everyone is welcome for Scouse Ma’s Battle of the Sexes. She will be joined by Andy Locker, Jack Bennett, Kaci Lynch and Vicki Scott and there will be games, prizes, live entertainment and the Naked Butlers at Ten Street Social on Saturday 27th August when her favorite mum holds court to all. .

Fair – Festival of Latin America

The Latin American Fair

Arts organization LUMA Creations is celebrating Latin American Art and Culture with La Feria, a four-day festival of dance, music performances and activities. Starts on Thursday, September 23, with “Music of the Americas” at the District in the Baltic Triangle, featuring Lucas Latin American Music Prize winner Angelica Lopez and her eight-piece band, along with Liverpool bands LUMA Quintet and Katumba Bloco – one of the headline ensembles of batteries in the UK. There will be dancing in the Bombed-Out Church and Liverpool Central Library will host a free family day of performances, workshops, stalls and exhibitions on Friday 24 September.

Closing out La Feria on Sunday 26 September will be a collection of street performances across Liverpool city centre.

British Musical Fireworks Championship

Southport’s British Musical Fireworks Championship is back with a bang! The three-night festival runs from Friday September 23 to Sunday September 25 in Victoria Park, Southport, with fireworks set to music for the most spectacular firework displays and pyrotechnic experts competing to win the coveted top prize.

Mowgli Dog Fest 2022

Mowgli Dog Fest will open its doors at Claremont Farm on Saturday and Sunday, September 10-12. The event, which last year raised £43,000 for Clare House Children’s Hospice, will feature dog races, great local food, drink and craft stalls, as well as live music, fun attractions and children’s activities. The main arena will be hosted by Jonny Bongo of Bongo’s Bingo along with Heart Radio’s Adam Weighell. Again, this year, all profits will go to Clare House.
