A total of 17 finalists for the title of Miss World Trinidad and Tobago were unveiled in front of a joyful and energetic crowd of spectators, family, friends and sponsors at the Brix Autograph Collection on Sunday, September 4.
After selection, the girls will undergo a training period as they prepare for the grand finale where a girl will be chosen to represent Trinidad and Tobago at the Miss World International Pageant to be held next year.
Delivering her welcome speech to The Reveal, franchise holder Charu Lochan Dass said it is her hope to raise the standard of the show and give contestants the best chance to follow in the footsteps of the former Beauty Queens – Giselle Laronde West, Wendy Fitzwilliam and Penny. Commission.
“The judges, who are all represented here tonight, had a really tough task of choosing the top 15 finalists and after much deliberation, we settled on the top 17 girls you’ll see here tonight. We are proud of our selection and it is a reminder to all of us that we are doing this for love of country, national service and our humanitarian project – Beauty with a Purpose,” she said.
Caribbean stylist and production designer Richard Young, who was part of the Show Committee, admitted that choosing the 15 girls was a monumental task.
“When we came here over a week ago, there were over 50 young women who were bursting with enthusiasm and energy. I was fascinated by the caliber of the girls, especially those candidates with their passion projects that align with the Beauty on Purpose platform. Indeed, it was very difficult to select 15 candidates, so we selected 17 girls. We look forward to creating a fascinating show that showcases the beauty of Trinidad and Tobago,” he said.
From the 17 candidates, one girl will be selected on November 6 at the National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA) to represent Trinidad and Tobago at Miss World International.
Young added: “We represent the most diverse group of people in the world. We will have women of different heights, sizes and ethnicities representing Scarborough, Maracas, San Fernando, Cocorite, Chaguanas in Port of Spain. It was a nationwide search and I was proud to be part of a panel of 10 judges who stayed back long afterwards to make sure we identified the top 15, which were spread across 17 candidates. We are truly a melting pot of beauty.”
The Show Panel consisted of Karrian Hepburn Malcolm, Phaedra Adele, Richard Young, Ashwin Bally, Vaalmikki Val Maharaj, Rana Ibrahim, Sham Mohammed, Natalie Fonrose; Giselle Laronde West and Charu Lochan Dass.
Carla Cupid, Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Trinidad Limited, stated that the partnership with the Miss World Trinidad and Tobago pageant was a natural fit, as her company’s mission is to showcase Trinidad and Tobago to the rest of the world.
“We are often looking for ambassadors to trade in Trinidad and Tobago sharing our culture, creativity, beauty and talent and it is mutually beneficial because we are tapping these ladies who will share what they experience in Trinidad and Tobago and share our destination. We will also provide content when the international show happens and that will expose the world to what we have to offer as a destination,” she said.

The Miss World Trinidad and Tobago finalist will receive a cash prize of TT$100,000 from West Bees Supermarket. a scholarship from the School of Accountancy and Management (SAM Caribbean Ltd.), frontline suits from Tribe, executive management services from Kalloos and a full wardrobe from local fashion designers as part of the prizes.
