Here’s what’s happened so far:

Day 1 – Friday 29 July

Scotland made a strong start to the tournament on Friday after claiming two wins in Group A.

Fraser Malcolm starred in their opening success as the leading scorer helping his side to record a 16-9 win over Sri Lanka – a result highlighted by Gareth Murray’s misplaced poster.

A more challenging race with Canada followed in the evening with Malcolm again leading by nine points. However, it was Kyle Jimenez who had the decisive say with a dramatic game-winner that sealed a 21-20 triumph to end a thrilling back-and-forth battle.

Day 2 – Saturday 30 July

If Scotland laid down a marker on Day 1, then England certainly did when they began their campaign in style on Sunday.

England stood firm in the face of the Tall Blacks’ pre-game Haka and then let their basketball do the talking as Orlan Jackman impressed with nine points in a dominant 21-10 victory.

They were even more convincing in the evening session with Jamell Anderson and Kayne Henry thrilling the crowd on their way to an emphatic 21-6 success over Trinidad and Tobago. Hometown hero Myles Hesson put the finishing touches on the win with a nasty poster to finish with nine points in the win.

Day 3 – Sunday 31 July

Both England and Scotland are guaranteed to go through to the knockout stages, but have the chance to secure direct qualification to the semi-finals.

Scotland can complete a perfect group stage by defeating Kenya in the afternoon session, while defeat could see them drop into the quarter-finals with a possible three-way tie with Canada. Second and third place both go to the quarter-finals, while the group winner goes straight to the final four.

It’s a more straightforward scenario for England as they have a direct shootout for top spot – and a place in the semi-finals – when they face Australia in the penultimate game of the day.
