JJ Spaun heads into the weekend at the St. Jude at 11 and with a one-shot lead over Sepp Straka and Troy Merritt. The winner of the Texas Open in April, Spaun will be looking to capture his second trophy of the season and shake up the FedEx Cup Playoffs in the process. It won’t be an easy task, however, as some of the biggest stars on the PGA Tour are within reach to improve his chances over the course of the final 36 holes.
Tony Finau and Cameron Smith are both at 8 under and just three shots off Spaun’s pace. Arguably the two hottest players in the world, their names may not be at the top of the leaderboard, but they are at the top of the odds table at Caesars Sportsbook. Combine their presence with the likes of Adam Scott, Will Zalatoris, Matt Fitzpatrick, Justin Thomas and Sam Burns — all of whom are within five shots of the lead — and St. Louis’ championship finish. Jude should be as pressure-packed as ever as players jostle for postseason positioning.
