Amid Jamaica registering 183 new cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to Friday afternoon, the Ministry of Health and Welfare has reported a positive rate of 23.7 percent for the one-day period.
Two deaths from COVID-19 that occurred in August were also recorded on Friday, bringing the total number of deaths from the coronavirus in Jamaica to 3,221.
Two men from Kingston and St Andrew, aged 71 and 88, are the latest nationally recorded victims of COVID.
The separate deaths of two patients with COVID-19 are under investigation by health officials.
Had 90 heals for the day, bringing him to 94,999.
The newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 brought the total number recorded for the island to 147,908.
Notably, the positivity rate of 23.7 percent was based on samples that were tested on Friday.
Of the new confirmed cases, 113 are women and 70 men, aged from one month to 98 years.
