4th Annual Brooklyn Caribbean Literary Festival Gathers major Caribbean storytellers

The Brooklyn Caribbean Literary Festival is delighted to have in its cast this year legendary literary talent such as Adrian Augier, Urayoan Noel, Dahlma Llanos-Figueroa and Cheryl Boyce-Taylor.

As a showcase for Caribbean literature in the diaspora, the organization which is made up of Caribbean-born expatriates, welcomes the opportunity to create a platform on which lovers of Caribbean literature can revel in the language, culture and rhythm of the rich tradition and diverse Caribbean. stories.

Appropriately, ‘Outside!’ the theme captures the joyous sense of reunion experienced by the entire world after a prolonged and challenging lockdown. As a declaration, invitation and instruction, ‘Out!’ is a distinctive expression of the Caribbean and invites reading enthusiasts to gather over three days at various iconic locations in Brooklyn to celebrate Caribbean writers whose work continues to point the way forward in the most uncertain of times.

One of the main attractions of this year’s festival is the launch of King of Soca – a bit of a biography of Machel Montano, written by his mother Elizabeth ‘Lady’ Montano on September 9, the launch date of the festival. Machel is arguably the best and most prolific artist in soca – a musical genre born in his native Trinidad and Tobago – the publication of this book is part of the celebration of his remarkable 40-year tenure in the music industry in 2022 .
