Images, monotypes and installations invite the viewer to delve into the traces and gazes of the artist, from December 1, at the Centro Cultural Correios RJ.

or visual artist Liliane Braga PRESENT exhibition “Passage”, contemporary art show that brings the “lived place” during the pandemic period, born from the idea of ​​living close to nature and the studio, allowing the observer to feel this transformation of the geographical space when invested with love and built by experiences. – both physical, mental and sensory, through images, monotypes on cotton paper and montages of mud, leaves and sticks on the floor.

According to Carlos Bertão, curator of the show, “in PASSAGEM, we present this place lived by Liliane during a period of great pain and introspection, where she witnessed the transformation of the geographical space, when invested with love and built by experience, both. physical, mental, as sensory – “Place in an experiential perspective” – ​​in the words of Yi-Fu Tuan, a renowned Chinese-American geographer. fauna and flora, mapping paths, trails, paths, tracks, all recorded as a photographic inventory of his surroundings. Bringing his experiences as part of the landscape, PASSAGEM shows nature as life and life as art. Try, see, hear and feel here the traces of this living passage.”

About Liliane Braga

Liliane Braga, a visual artist trained in Education, Psychomotricity – psycho-body therapy – since 1998 has focused her poetic research on nature, on its movements and materials, bodies, fragments, displacements and trajectories. He attended the Contemporary Sculpture course with Iole de Freitas at the Parque Lage School of Visual Arts. He also participated in study groups led by Marcos Bonisson and Fernando Cocchiarale, participated in the “Fábrica de Ratoeiras”, a discussion group on contemporary art, led by Cadu and Artur Chaves. He participated in individual and collective exhibitions in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Brasília, New York, Berlin, Helsinki, Paris, among others. About Carlos Bertão (Curator)

Carioca, a lawyer, graduated from the State University of Rio de Janeiro, with a master’s degree from New York University (NYU), worked in law firms in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and New York. In 1980, he joined the World Bank in Washington, where he worked for nearly twenty years. An art collector for over 40 years, after retiring from the World Bank he returned to Brazil and began to devote himself to producing and curating exhibitions. He curated, among others, exhibitions at the Centro Cultural Correios, in Rio de Janeiro, the Espaço Cultural Correios, in Niterói, the Centro Cultural do Banco do Brasil, in Brasília, the Centro Cultural da Caixa Econômica Federal, in São Paulo, the Museu of Contemporary Art of the State of Mato Grosso do Sul – MARCO. Today he divides his time between Rio de Janeiro and Bonito, MS, having conceived and executed the project IMERSÕES MS, which included a residency work by the renowned plastic artist Carlos Vergara in the Serra da Bodoquena region, also with an exhibition planned at the Museum of Contemporary Art of the State of Mato Grosso do Sul – MARCO and the preparation and execution of a book and a video of the work developed during the residency.

He was also the curator of the exhibition CONSCIÊNCIA, by the Peruvian artist Ivan Ciro Palomino, produced by the UN and held at the Centro Cultural Correios RJ, from 25.09.19 to 19.01.20, which was visited by 143,524 people. In all the exhibitions he curated, in which he presented the works of more than 40 artists, Carlos Bertão had the participation of Alê Teixeira, who was responsible for their design and lighting.
