Street children are minors who live and survive on the streets.
They often grow in public dumps, train stations or in various sections of major cities. Due to conflicts with the family, these children often do not want or cannot return home.
Jamaica has its fair share of young people living in these conditions. Cases where young people are often seen at traffic intersections hoping to ask for money to buy their next meal are not unique.
But a video captured on social media showing a young man waiting outside a popular fast food restaurant trying to earn funds to secure his next meal has captured the hearts of many Jamaicans.
What caught the attention of many readers was the fact that despite his situation, the young man managed to display a fighting spirit and although he had nothing to eat, he was not seen empty-handed. Instead he had three onions and two carrots in a plastic bag trying to catch a sale.
Clearly moved by what he saw, a motorist was heard asking the young man about his plans for both school and his business selling ground supplies, which appeared to be his side hustle.
Soon after the motorist handed the young man three thousand dollars, a move that drew a look of relief to the face of the young man who appeared to be no more than 12 years old.
The conversation ended with the driver telling the young man that if he had the chance he would stop by again to offer him further assistance.

Social media users, while still trying to figure out if the act was done by the motorist to get more attention on his social media page, or if it was done to inspire, said either way, they were happy that the aid was going to a youth of the nation.
“It brings tears to my eyes when I see this, blessings to you big man,” said one social media user.
“We need more of this all over Jamaica,” said another user.
