Acting CoP: TTPS monitoring its extra duty procedures | News Extra

Acting Commissioner of Police Mc Donald Jacob over the weekend stated that the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is reassessing and vigorously monitoring its policies and procedures in additional duty arrangements with party promoters and event organizers to reduce likelihood of irregularities and inconsistencies.

He addressed the issue last Saturday during a meeting with the Trinidad and Tobago Promoters Association (TTPA) at the Police Administration Building, Port-of-Spain.

A post on the police’s social media page said that during the discussions, all parties reached a mutual agreement to willingly work together in addressing issues such as maintaining and enforcing clear policy, resolving officer strength of the police at the event and ensuring future cooperation to improve the symbiotic relationship of both entities ahead of the 2023 carnival season.

Jacob told the TTPA that the TTPS will implement further guidance on what was already outlined in the TTPS Additional Duty Policy to address some of the critical challenges raised by the Association.

On July 25, TTPS issued a statement on additional duty instructions within the organization and the requirements of division commanders and promoters.

The meeting was also attended by Acting Deputy Commissioners of Police, Operations and Administration and Support, Erla Christopher and Intelligence and Investigation, Wendell Williams, Acting Senior Superintendents of the Port of Spain Police Division, Neil Brandon John and Western Division, Anthony Remy , which represented two of the ten Police Divisions that host the biggest events during the regular carnival season.

TTPA President Jerome “Rome” Precilla and TTPA Attorney Paige De Leon were also present.

The post added that De Leon said she was “pleased with the discussions” as the TTPA and TTPS remain committed to supporting the country’s creativity, culture and livelihood.

The TTPS and TTPA are expected to meet in the future as established policies are reviewed and monitored.
