At only 14 years old, Jiu-jitsu fighter from Ceará, João Vítor, won first place at the CBJJE World Championship and is seeking sponsorship to unify his title with the UEAJJF World Championship, which will take place in November in Abu Dhabi. United Arab Emirates.
Currently a green belt in Jiu-jitsu and due to his discipline, determination and constant training routine, he has achieved excellent results in all the competitions he has participated in, accumulating more than 200 medals, most of them gold, being world champion, João. Vítor trains four hours a day, at Escola Nazareno Ferreira, all the technical part of Jiu-jitsu and another five hours a week strengthening through weight training. Special competition-focused training focused on major events for 2022 such as the Brazilian CBJJ Championship, Pan Kids in Florida, the Abu Dhabi World Cup in the United Arab Emirates and the AJP Tournament in Portugal.
And this August, João was a champion, winning two more gold medals, one at the Bad Boy Classic International, which took place at the Fortaleza Olympic Training Center, and the second at the 2022 South American IBJJF, which took place in Rio de Janeiro .
João, like his mother Fernanda Freires, is an animal defender and became an ambassador for the Non-Governmental Organization – NGO ABRACE – Uma Causa Animal. In this way, he gets the name of the institution everywhere, being a way to ask for support and donations for animals in need.
It all started in 2013, when the athlete was only five years old and was diagnosed with prediabetes. So the pediatrician suggested a sport. As Herlânio Pessoa, João’s father, had already practiced Jiu-jitsu, he decided to enroll his son in an academy. But it was at the age of 12 that the teenager saw that the sport was more than a hobby. “There I realized that I wanted Jiu-jitsu for life, as a profession. My life has improved in some things, such as health, mentality and I know how to deal with my problems. Jiu-jitsu has become something super important in my life!” – States.
In addition to the whole training routine, the young man is also an instructor at the same gym where he trains, teaching children. “They were inspired by me, they see me as an idol and that’s a lot of fun,” he says.
The champion’s mother, Fernanda Freires, is simply proud of her eldest son. She says it is a great privilege to have such a focused child. “João is a wonderful boy, obedient, full of dreams. João is an extraordinary child, I say child because for a mother children never grow up. He is very young and already a teacher and that fills me with pride. Everything he has achieved has been thanks to a lot of effort. He wants Jiu-jitsu for his life and I’m sure he’s on the right track,” he says.
According to Fernanda, João has a great sponsor, Paraíba Bar, who really believes in the young fighter. “Everything he does for João is beautiful. I am very grateful to him, because if it wasn’t for him, João would not have been able to compete in so many championships. But we still need sponsorship, because today it’s just João’s father and Paraíba, but we don’t always get it. We have bet a lot on João’s dream and we dream for him. People need to see that sport is a bridge for competitors. João is an example and will bring us many medals” – he emphasizes.
For Tarcio Lira, known as Paraíba, João’s biggest sponsor, the athlete has everything to realize his dream and make a living from Jiu-jitsu, becoming a reference for many. “João Flash Boy is a first-class athlete and today he is part of the history of Paraíba Bar. I started to believe in João from the beginning and this desire to help grew by watching the efforts of his son and his father. Sensational Boy full of dreams, full of goals, focused, devoted to family, devoted to God. And I looked at him and said: I believe in you and I will do everything possible to achieve your goal. Let other entrepreneurs see João’s potential and sport” – concludes.
With effort, dedication and merit, the athlete won the Sports Scholarship, offered by the Municipality of Fortaleza, which provides the necessary conditions for athletes to devote themselves full-time to sports training and also participate in competitions that allow the development of the career of theirs.
However, it is still not enough, because the intense training routine, adequate nutrition and the championships, especially those that take place outside Fortaleza, require huge expenses with tickets, transfers, accommodation, food and since you are a minor you have to. always be accompanied by a responsible adult.
The objective of the sponsorship he is seeking is, precisely, to help pay for the expenses of future races. It is a great opportunity to conquer the title of the world championship, which would raise even more the history of conquests for the sport of the state of Ceará, in Jiu-jitsu mode.
João is so focused that most of the time he gives up going out with his friends because his biggest dream is to be known as a great fighter and make Brazil proud. “On Saturday and Sunday when there is no championship, I go to church, talk with friends. But I prioritize what I want in my life because I think about the future. Sport is a real competition in everyday life and not only in the championship. If I train more than my opponent, I’m already one step ahead of him, not the other way around. The daily life of an athlete is a competition. So focus is needed!” – he concludes.
It is important to remember that tax incentives for companies investing in social projects and athletes are very large in our legislation. Apart from them, there is still an improvement in the corporate image towards the target audience. So if you have a company, helping João Vítor can be a great opportunity for growth for your business and also for everyone who is a part of it.
