[Update: 9:50 am, October 10]
The flash flood watch has been upgraded to a flash flood warning by the Barbados Meteorological Services.
This alert message is effective as of 9:45 a.m. Monday, October 10, 2022, and will be updated or terminated at 12 noon on Monday, October 10, 2022, or earlier if conditions warrant.
A flash flood warning is issued when flash flooding due to heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period of time (generally less than 6 hours) occurs or is imminent in the warning area.
Explanation:
A favorable mid- to upper-level environment has increased convection around the island.
Maximum rainfall accumulations of up to 35 mm were observed in the eastern parts of the island, mainly St Philip and Christ Church. As the morning continues, further accumulations of 25.0 to 50.0 mm are forecast with heavy to heavy rain.
Due to the saturated nature of the soils, further shower activity is likely to cause flooding.
