Video has emerged of the latest disruptive incident aboard a Carnival cruise ship, with multiple guests involved in the brawl even as security arrived.
The event happened on board Carnival joy late Wednesday, July 6, as the ship was returning to its port in Jacksonville at the end of a 5-night cruise to the Bahamas.
Injured many guests
According to reports from passengers on board who witnessed the incident, at least eight guests were directly involved and several were injured. Some of the wounded had only tried to intervene and stop the ruckus, but instead they were pushed aside.
Witnesses claimed that the perpetrators knew each other and it is possible that the incident escalated due to personal issues. Security was called and eventually broke up the commotion.
Carnival Cruise Line released a brief statement to First Coast News about the incident, which reads: “Our security team aboard the Carnival Elation intervened in a fight between guests. The case was reported to law enforcement and the investigation is being completed. We will not tolerate behavior that disrupts other guests’ vacations, and those who instigated the altercation will no longer be allowed to sail on our ships.“

The ship called at Nassau on Monday, July 4, and Princess Cays on Tuesday, July 5. Wednesday, the day of the incident, was a fun day at sea.
The ship returned to Jacksonville on schedule and there was no delay in starting her next voyage, a 4-night cruise to the Bahamas.
A worrying trend
This is not the only incident reported on cruise ships in recent days. At the end of June, a fight broke out on board the plane involving dozens of passengers The class of dreams The magic of carnivals as the ship was returning to New York City after an Eastern Caribbean cruise.
That altercation was apparently sparked by allegations of infidelity on board the ship. It began at approximately 2 a.m. on Monday, June 27, and moved across several decks as those involved moved about, stopping and restarting their argument at various times until security finally broke up the group.
Following this incident, authorities on shore were contacted to interview those involved, as well as witnesses, to begin an investigation.
Another divisive episode was also recently reported aboard Royal Caribbean International Voyager class Navigator of the seas in early July. About a dozen passengers were involved in that incident on Deck 5 of the ship, near the cafe promenade. The incident is suspected to have happened between family members.
Navigator of the seas is currently sailing 3-4 night cruises from Los Angeles to Catalina and Ensenada.
What are the consequences?
When such situations occur, cruise lines are quick to deliver consequences. If the incident is violent, there is a brig available on board, or individuals can be moved to safe areas where they can be closely monitored at all times.
The cruise line may bar passengers from future sailings aboard a line or a corporation’s entire family of cruise lines, or passengers may be disembarked at the next port of call without refund and assistance to back to the port of embarkation of the cruise.
Coastal authorities can be brought in and the people involved can also face legal consequences for their poor behavior depending on the extent of the incident and whether any injuries are reported.
As investigations into these latest incidents are still ongoing, there is no word yet on the ultimate consequences for those involved.
