United Gasoline Dealers Center Gas Station Committee President Carlos Crespo reported on RADIO ISLA that this week a diesel barge for the island will arrive in Puerto Rico.
Carlos Crespo added that there is “allegedly” another additional ship from the state of Texas bound for Puerto Rico.
Their comments come after the federal government approved a waiver of the Jones Act so that the ship that was near Puerto Rico with more than 300,000 barrels of oil could be unloaded at the gas company Peerless Oil & Chemicals, Inc., in Penuelas.
According to Carlos Crespo, a diesel ship brought by the Puma company first arrived at the port of San Juan. About 20,000 liters of oil went to the Electricity Authority (PREPA) and the rest was to be distributed, but Crespo received nothing. However, from the ship that entered Peñuelas, another 20,000 gallons went to PREPA and the rest would be distributed by Peerless Oil & Chemicals, Inc.
