A poll last night showed that 56 percent of citizens have a favorable view of Colombian President Gustavo Petro’s first month in office.
Petro’s disapproval rating was 20 percent, according to the first poll conducted during his tenure by polling institute Invamer. Colombia’s Vice President Francia Márquez received 54 percent approval and 18 percent disapproval.
The poll asked citizens if they thought the situation in the country was getting better or worse. Thirty-three percent of respondents said the situation had improved and 48 percent said it had worsened.
For his part, the head of state has repeated the same poll on his Twitter account, which contained the headline from a local media, “Petro started on the right foot. His approval rating among Colombians is 56 percent.
Petro took office on August 7 after winning the second round of the July election.
