LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Los Angeles Police Department Chief Michel Moore will join homicide investigators and family members of the victims Wednesday to ask for the public’s help in solving the slayings of two 17-year-old boys in a shooting at a street carnival in Lincoln Heights.
Investigators are asking for witnesses to the shooting that happened around 9 p.m. Sunday at Broadway and Workman Street.
Javier Mejia and Winfield Lee, both of Los Angeles, died at the scene, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said.
According to police, a male suspect fired multiple shots at the boys and ran away. A motive was not known.
Moore, investigators and relatives of the boys are scheduled to gather at the LAPD’s Hollenbeck station at 2111 E. 1st St. to request information about the case.
