Bazodee has won two awards at the Nigeria Realtime Festival (RTF), held in Lagos from August 19 to 27.
Lead actress Natalie Perera won the award for best leading actress and screenwriter Claire Ince took home the award for best screenplay.
Bazodee made headlines after it was recently announced that the film had secured a surprising six nominations at the prestigious festival.
Other nominations included Machel Montano, for Best Actor along with Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best Lighting Design.
The official Bazodee showtook place on Friday, August 26 at 6pm Nigerian time, and was attended by many, including the Trinbagonian contingent, which included C15 Studios CEO (and Bazodee co-producer), Lorraine O’Connor; co-founder of Lanniup Consulting, Sean Valley; Director General of FilmTT, Leslie-Ann Wills-Caton; and Trinidad and Tobago Television (TTT) Head of Programming, Diane Robertson.
In response to the news of Bazodee’s achievements, O’Connor stated: “I’m extremely happy to see Bazodee getting a second life and that we’ve had the opportunity to showcase some of our music and culture to a new audience. We hope this opens the door for many Caribbean films to gain popularity in Africa.”
