Binance CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao lands in Barbados Today and what that means for Caribbean Crypto & Fintech Industries – Silicon Caribe

Thanks to the Instragam stories of HSE Gabriel Abed (A Caribbean Crypto Pioneer), we have learned that the CEO of Binance is now in Barbados.

If you recall back in March of this year, Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley had talked about a possible partnership between Barbados and Binance in her budget speech. In that speech, Prime Minister Mottley said that Barbados had started talks with Binance around Barbados becoming a hub for Fintech Investment and Innovation with them.

Binance is now in Barbados just days after Bahamas-based FTX imploded under a flurry of allegations of ponzi schemes, unethical behavior by FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried and many associated with its 134 companies.

Binance weeks ago apparently pulled the last part of the thread that revealed FTX and sounded the alarm over the bankruptcy and non-kosher practices of what was the world’s third largest crypto exchange. Binance was asked to spare FTX, but declined just days later.

As we said… FTX now dead in the Caribbean leaves a clear path for China-led crypto exchange dominance in the region, well for now. With OKX headquartered in the Bahamas and led by Bahamian Dr Jillian Bethel and Huobi Global likely to land in Dominica and TRON Blockchain led by Justin Sun winning a government deal with Dominica. It’s a very interesting time in Caribbean Crypto culture.

Let’s see what news comes out of Barbados as a result of CZ’s stay there.

..The development of the story.
