Bolsonaro speeds up Petrobras privatization and exposes Brazil to fuel increases

On Monday, October 3, Petrobras ended 69 years in the middle of a dismantling process, according to a survey by the Inter-Union Department of Statistics and Social Economic Studies (Dieese).

This dismantling is caused by the serial sales of part of the company’s assets, which intensified during the government of President Jair Bolsonaro (Liberal Party – PL).

The body established that from 2013 to August 2022 (nine years), Petrobras sold 94 assets (80 in Brazil and 14 abroad), for a total of 59.8 billion dollars.

Only during Bolsonaro’s administration, between January 2019 and August of this year, 63 assets, 67% of the total, were sold. . .
