BPTT signals drilling to resume | Local Business

BPTT has announced the return of the Joe Douglas jack-up rig, which arrived on August 30, in Chaguaramas.

In a press release yesterday, bpTT said the rig will proceed to the Mango drill site, located approximately 48 kilometers off Galeota Point on Trinidad’s southeast coast, to begin its drilling program in early October.

“This drilling program, including development and exploration drilling, is key to bpTT continuing to find and develop small resource reserves within the Columbus Basin. The first phase of the drilling program will include the drilling of three development wells in the Mango field and one well in the Savonette field,” the release said.

BP said that if this drilling phase is successful, these gas resources will be developed through the existing Mango and Savonette production platforms and could add production in late 2022/early 2023, while the second phase of the drilling program includes the potential for three additional wells in the Angelin field and this phase is currently going through the sanctioning process.
