Brazil: ceiling-breaking PEC should raise public debt to up to 108.4% of GDP

President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s (PT) transition team presented a proposal to leave $175 billion out of the budget to finance Aid for Brazil.

The PEC (Proposed Constitutional Amendment) presented by the government of President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) should increase the public debt to 92.9% of GDP (Gross Domestic Product) by the end of the mandate, in 2026. . .
