The Brazilian government proposed today the economist and former president of the country’s Central Bank, Ilan Goldfain, for the presidency of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), after the dismissal of the American Mauricio Clavier-Carone.
In a statement, the Ministry of Economy assured that together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs they would take the necessary steps for Brazil to take the presidency of the IDB for the first time since the creation of the bank. Brazil is the second largest shareholder of the IDB, right after the United States.
