Brazil’s public debt ends 2022 at lowest level in five years

According to the Ministry of Economy, the gross debt of the general government will end in 2022 at the lowest level in five years.

In the primary income and expenditure assessment report published last Thursday (December 22), the team of Minister Paulo Guedes predicted a debt equal to 73.7% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at the end of this year, in the same level as in December 2017.

In the same document, the ministry raised the federal government’s estimated primary surplus this year from $23.4 billion to $34.1 billion.
