Main points: We would like to remind residents who need repairs on their private property to complete Land Distribution Repair Private Survey. Please fill out A property/plot number survey. If you are looking for an assessment or repair status, please call 720-417-8048 for assistance in English, or 505-398-3889 for assistance in Spanish. If you submit multiple repair surveys for the same property, it slows down the process of verifying estimates and repairs that have been completed.
operations: Over the weekend drier weather over the fire area allowed safe access for firefighters and heavy equipment to re-engage and continue extinguishment assessments and repairs. Incident personnel continued to support work to remove debris, mud and rocks from flood-damaged roads. Fire officials would like to remind residents and visitors to slow down when driving on roads in and around the fire area and obey all traffic warnings.
Closures: Santa Fe National Forest has reduced the fire closure area opening additional access to the Pecos Wilderness. To view the new closure order and map, visit – Santa Fe – Alerts & Notices (usda.gov). Monsoon weather, fire and public safety and the completion of press repair activities all play a role in the decision to review or lift closure orders.
Weather: The high pressure will weaken and allow a more favorable monsoonal flow of moisture to the region. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected on Tuesday, while there may be a significant increase in thunderstorms on Thursday and Friday. Daily showers and thunderstorms will increase the risk for flash flooding with the highest risk from Tuesday afternoon through at least Thursday. Afternoon temperatures will be cool with increasing relative humidity.
