The Chilliwack Arts and Culture Center Society has announced its Fall 2022 performance lineup.
Due to COVID cancellations, a number of last season’s shows at the Chilliwack Cultural Center have become part of this upcoming season, alongside new additions.
“With a lineup of 13 shows for the fall, the society will inspire the community with a wonderful selection ranging from energetic dance performances to captivating theatrical performances and a diverse collection of musical performances,” the Chilliwack Arts and Cultural Center Society said in a . Press release.
The popular ones Bergmann Duo – Elizabeth and Marcel – promise to delight and enchant with Dancing with Eight Hands, when they are joined by Duo Turgeon. This entertaining program focused on dance-inspired works will feature Latin American music, such as Lecuona’s Malagueña, Astor Piazzolla’s Tangos as well as Weber’s Elegant.
The Ring of Fire will have customers walking the line to the songs and stories of iconic musician, Johnny Cash. Paying homage to The Man in Black, this musical showcases the extraordinary life story of Johnny Cash through his music.
Another show within the theater series is Bamir, an exciting and utterly dramatic show that uses a captivating combination of cabaret, theater and dance to tell the story of Josephine Baker, the first international African-American star. This fantastical cabaret will enchant and dazzle you as Josephine shatters stereotypes of race, gender roles and sexuality.
Three children’s shows will also be coming to Chilliwack.
Halloween scream it’s more fun than tricks when Norman Foote comes to Chilliwack. This Halloween concert will be fun for the whole family and will embrace the creativity of the spooky holiday with music and costumes.
Ready to immerse you in the legends and stories of the Kwantlen First Nation, Th’owxiya: Hungry Feast Dish tells the story of a hungry old soul who inhabits a feasting plate of tempting and beautiful food. Caught stealing a piece of cheese, a young mouse named Kw’at’el must embark on a journey to trick the hungry spirit and save her family from a feast, in this beautiful tale that integrates the use of traditional Coast Salish and Stó: lō music, dance and masks.
A Zaniac Christmas it’s all funny, whimsical and magical and the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit with your kids. From juggling bowling balls to cutting vegetables in half with cards, everything Zaniac does is sure to entertain the whole family.
Black Redeemer welcomes you to witness the joy of South African culture through traditional song and dance. Through their music, Black Umfolosi deals with love, family, soul and challenges negative stereotypes around the world. They will have you begging for more, especially when they perform the iconic Gumboot and Zulu dance. Full of passion and creativity, Afrsia will take you up in the world of dance. Full of authenticity, a burst of energy and technical precision, prolific BC dancer Joshua Beamish brings a joyous collection of dance.
Getting the center into the Christmas spirit is a stunning lineup within the musical series. Here to take you on a sentimental musical journey is one Lisa Brokop Classic Country Christmas. With a career spanning more than two decades, Lisa Brokop is one of the most popular country musicians in North America and is the perfect person to sing this holiday season.
Wrapping you tight in the spirit of Christmas, Winter harp returns to the center. The combination of flutes, violin, rare medieval instruments, percussion, poetry and songs to create an extremely beautiful concert.
The spirit of the holiday continues A Celtic Christmas! The North Shore Celtic Ensemble delivers a lively and heartwarming celebration of the season through sensational harmonies, enchanting melodies and plenty of holiday magic.
Rounding out the exciting lineup of shows this fall season is surprising Brian Skonberg. A force in the new music scene with her bold horn melodies, smoky vocals and adventurous mixes of classic and new music. The Juno Award-winning New York superstar comes home for the holiday season with an unforgettable show.
