Representative Luis Raúl Torres assured RADIO ISLA that the House is preparing a transition plan from LUMA Energy to the Electric Power Authority (PREPA) or to any other public-private alliance or any other public entity.
“The primary alternative that the government must execute and the governor knows this well because the contract itself and the law obliges him is that if the LUMA contract is canceled, leaves or is not renewed, there must be a transfer to the Electricity Authority of all assets . (You must) return them to the Governing Board of the Electricity Authority and, from there, the executive director of the Electricity Authority (Josué Colón) take responsibility for the system in which, then, it is determined which will be the permanent mechanism that the government will use”, explained Torres.
Luis Raul Torres stated that “if the governor (Pedro Pierluisi) does not have that plan, it is being worked on in the House and later we will announce the alternatives that we will implement permanently to administer the system with legislation”.
Their expressions arise because the supplementary contract of LUMA Energy expires on November 30.
