The Association of Traders of La Parguera, in alliance with the Department of Natural Resources, the Board of Environmental Quality, the Municipality of Lajas and in collaboration with LUMA Energy, started this Tuesday the change of lights to avoid light pollution in the area of La Parguera. .
The initiative, which includes changing strategic points that help protect the bbusiness biluminescent de La Parguera, also includes instructions for the community on the importance of continuing to join efforts to preserve the nature reserve.
“The merchants of La Parguera maintain our commitment to ensure a healthy coexistence, not only between neighbors and tourists, but also with the environment. Puerto Rico has three of the five unique ecosystems bnon-luminescentI know they exist in the world and in Parguera we have one of them. Therefore, it is urgent and necessary to take all measures to protect our bay”, he said. Delma Rosado, president of the Association of Merchants of La Parguera, said in a written statement.
Rosado explained that in addition to this effort, through the La Parguera Reserve Noise Pollution Control Committee of the La Parguera Merchants Association, other measures are being worked on to regulate the excessive noise pollution that arises in the Keys.
“La Parguera is for the enjoyment of everyone, adults and children, so it’s up to us to find ways to harmonize the spaces we share. Therefore we believe that soon we will be able to fix the excessive noise that prevents in most cases that healthy coexistence and enjoyment of the community and visitors”, emphasized Rosado.
