Caribbean culture on display at Texas event

Caribbean culture took center stage at Ramps Logistics’ OTC cocktail event in Houston, Texas, on Monday night.

The company said in a statement that the event, held at Club Decorum, highlighted Caribbean Culture for many international attendees during the annual Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2022 held in Houston, Texas.

The event was organized in collaboration with Digicel Business Solutions.

The company said the Caribbean diaspora in the US is large and many were present at the event.

“The Caribbean Cocktail event showcased elements of this rich culture while creating an unforgettable night of food, drink, great company and opportunity. El Dorado Rum, Soca and Chutney music and an abundance of authentic Caribbean dishes from Guyana , Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago were on the menu for the evening.

The company said attendees included the United States Ambassador to Guyana, Ms. Sarah-Ann Lynch, GCCI President Timothy Tucker, Guyana Chamber of Oil and Gas President Maniram Prashad, dignitaries from the Mexican Embassy, ​​representatives from the Ministry of Energy of Trinidad and Tobago. and ousted executives from major Houston-based energy companies.

The company said guests were greeted with an introduction by the talented Steel Vibrations Steel Band, whose “unforgettable performances wowed attendees.”

Later, drums from Houston-based band Moving Stars Tassa took the crowd’s attention. The cocktail event featured Trinidadian Soca Artiste, Sekon Sta, who delivered an energetic act.

The company said the MC for the night was Major Penny of Trinidad and Tobago.

Carnival masqueraders were also present. who gave a taste of the carnival while wearing top-of-the-line costumes made by The Lost Tribe’s Valmiki Maharaj, flown in all the way from Trinidad and Tobago.

The company said the Caribbean is fast becoming a new frontier globally.
