Caribbean designers to display and promote their products in the United Kingdom

The Barbados-based Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export) says ten designers from across the region will showcase and promote their brands at the Birmingham Autumn Fair, one of the UK’s premier international markets. from Sunday.

He said the region’s participation in the September 4-7 event is being funded by Caribbean Export and the European Union.

“The fashion industry in the Caribbean remains an important sector within the cultural industries. We created the Caribbean Fashion Showroom to support the growing visibility of Caribbean designers with the ultimate goal of increasing Caribbean fashion exports,” said Allyson Francis, Services Specialist at Caribbean Export.

Countries in the region will showcase their products under the Caribbean Fashion Expo booth. Those taking part are Theodore Elyett (Bahamas), Catori’s (Barbados), Gisselle Mancebo (Dominican Republic), Sandilou (Haiti), Dream Jewelery (Jamaica), designs by Nadia, FETE-ish (St Lucia), Kimmysticclo (St Vincent and the Grenadines), LOUD by Afiya and Aya Styler (Trinidad & Tobago).

Caribbean Export said these creative businesses aim to attract and connect with key European buyers while showcasing the warmth and uniqueness of the islands through diverse fabrics, colors and indigenous materials covering clothing, footwear, jewelery and accessories.

“The Autumn Fair is the UK industry’s leading market for wholesale home, gift and fashion. This four-day event aims to host and deliver the best products and inspiration as well as valuable connections, just in time for the Quarter Golden.

“The Fall Fair offers the perfect opportunity for shoppers to restock and place last-minute orders for the festive season. With over 600 plus UK and international exhibitors showcasing their collections each year, there is a huge variety of products at the Autumn Fair from their four main shopping destinations – Home, Gifts, Fashion and Design & Source,” added Caribbean Export.
