Bright carnival officially joins the Carnival Cruise Line fleet as the keys to the ship are officially handed over by Costa Cruises to the cruise operator in Miami. The newest cruise ship in the fleet begins operations on November 6 from Brisbane, Australia.
Under the watchful eye of several high-ranking managers from both cruise lines, Costa Captain Nicolantonio Palombella handed over the ship to Carnival Captain Adriano Binacchi in Palermo, Italy.

With the name change official at 10:32 a.m. in Palermo, Italy, Bright carnival officially joined the Carnival Cruise Line fleet of ships. Previously sailing for Costa Cruises, the ship has now changed company, sure to delight the thousands of guests who will set sail on board, starting from Brisbane, Australia, on November 6.
With high-ranking officials from Carnival Cruise Line, Costa Cruises and Carnival Corporation in attendance, Costa Cruises Captain Nicolantonio Palombella delivered Bright carnival for Carnival captain Adriano Binacchi, who will bring the ship to Australia.
“Carnival Luminosa is such an added benefit to our Fun Ship family with its unique on-board itineraries and specials.” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “Combining favorites from our fleet and our amazing crew with some of Luminosa’s fun features, this ship is sure to feel like home to our guests in no time.”
Bright carnival it’s already looking every inch the fun ship we know from the cruise line. The ship has already undergone some changes and will most popular spots that Carnival guests love.
They include Playlist Productions, The Punchliner Comedy Club, Limelight Lounge, Piano Bar 88, Alchemy Bar, RedFrog Rum Bar, Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse, Chef’s Table, Bonsai Sushi Express, Seaday Brunch, Serenity Adult-Only Retreat, and Cloud9, and others.
Completion of work to be done on Carnival’s newest ship will continue in the coming weeks during a dry dock renovation phase. Costa LuminosaTransfer to Carnival Cruise Line was announced on June 14, 2022. Once completed, the ship will sail to Australia.
Australia followed by Alaska
Bright carnival will sail her inaugural season in Australia, commencing November 6 to April 13, 2023.
The ship will visit the Great Barrier Reef during its 7-day sailings below, with port calls at Cairns, Port Douglas, Willis Island and home delivery in Brisbane, Australia.
Other cruises include an 11-night New Zealand cruise, shorter 3- and 4-day cruise vacations around Australia, and 7- and 11-night cruises around the South Pacific.
