After nearly three years, Carnival Cruise Line has resumed operations in its home port of New York City. The line last time the operator had a ship based there was in 2019.
The magic of carnivals arrived in the Big Apple today and is set to offer a series of four- to nine-night voyages to Bermuda, Canada and the Caribbean from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. The first trip will be a four-night Bermuda itinerary.
The ship will remain in New York until the end of September, also offering eight-night eastern Caribbean cruises with ports including Grand Turk, St. Thomas, San Juan and more.
With Carnival Cruise Line’s return to New York City, it means the brand has now resumed revenue operations in all 14 of its US ports.
“New York has been a wonderful partner for more than two decades, and we are pleased to once again offer versatile vacation options from this popular market,” said Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy.
In September, the ship will offer two seven-night round-trip cruises to Canada, with stops in Saint John, New Brunswick; Sydney, Nova Scotia; and Halifax, Nova Scotia. This October, the ship will reposition to Norfolk, Virginia to operate two Bahamas itineraries and two Bermuda itineraries. At the end of the month, Magical will come down to her winter home in Port Canaveral to spend the season sailing six and eight nights in the Caribbean.

The magic of carnivals is a Dream-class ship, and debuted in 2011. It was the sixth ship in the Carnival fleet to resume service when it departed Port Canaveral on August 7 of last year.
Restaurants in Magical include Seafood Shack, Prime Steakhouse, Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que, Cucina del Capitano, BlueIguana Cantina and Guy’s Burger Joint.
Other highlights of the ship include RedFrog Rum Bar, adults-only Serenity Retreat, Lip Sync Battle: Carnival, WaterWorks aqua park, Cloud 9 Spa, Alchemy Bar and Camp Ocean “children’s clubs.
Before the closure of the cruise industry, Dawn of the Carnival it was the last carnival ship to sail from the Big Apple.
