Carnival Cruise Line Reveals Senior Officers for New Ship

Just months before she set sail on her maiden voyage, Carnival Cruise Line announced who will be the captain, chief engineer and hotel manager responsible for the successful launch of Carnival celebration.

Departing from PortMiami’s upgraded Terminal F, Carnival celebration will join the sister Mardi Gras as Carnival’s second ship in the fleet powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). Carnival celebration will offer seven-day cruises year-round in the Caribbean beginning with its inaugural sailing from Miami on November 21.

The senior officers for the carnival celebration are revealed

Sailing from Terminal F at PortMiami in November of this year, Carnival Celebration is the most anticipated cruise ship to start this year. Packed with innovations, the ship will be the highlight of Carnival Cruise Line’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

As anyone who has traveled on a cruise knows, the success of a cruise’s day-to-day operations depends largely on the crew and senior officers on board. That is why Carnival Cruise Line has appointed a team of highly experienced officers to bring Carnival celebration In service.

Captain Vincenzo Alcaras, chief engineer Fabien Gervaise and hotel director Pierre Camilleri will lead the 1,700 crew members on the new ship. The three are already at the shipyard in Finland, familiarizing themselves with the new vessel.

Who are the senior officials of the carnival celebration?

Captain Vincenzo Alcaras has been with Carnival Cruise Line for many years now. One time Carnival celebration launches, the veteran sailor will also celebrate his 26th anniversary with the Miami-based cruise line.

Captain Alcaras began his career with Carnival in 1996, even working on board Celebration of MS as second officer. His first tour as Captain was on Carnival Miracle in 2006 and he has been responsible for launching Carnival breeze and sister to Carnival Celebration’s Excel Class Mardi Gras.

“I have a strong connection to the Carnival Party, like islands in the sea, separated on the surface but connected in depth.” Alcaras said. “There is nothing like standing on the edge of the ocean, seeing its immensity on the horizon, and in doing so it will be even more special to me than this ship, as it holds a special part of my personal history with Carnival Cruise Line.”

French Chief Engineer Fabien Gervaise has been with Carnival Cruise Line for 22 years. His first contract aboard a Carnival ship came in 2000, working as third engineer aboard the Carnival Paradise. His first job as chief engineer came in 2013, aboard the Carnival Breeze.

Maltese born and raised hotel manager Pierre Camilleri has been with Carnival Cruise Line for 18 years. After working at several land-based properties around the world, including in Asia, Europe and Malta, he joined Carnival Cruise Line in 2004.

Since then, he has served as hotel director on several Carnival ships and was part of the inaugural teams for Carnival breeze, Carnival Vista, Carnival horizonAND Mardi Gras.

Earlier this year, Carnival also announced Cruise director for his newest ship, Lee Mason. At the same time, Calvin Martens will lead the production’s cast, musicians and other performers as Director of Entertainment.

Inaugural trips for the carnival celebration

Carnival Celebration’s first voyage will be a 14-day Carnival Transatlantic Voyage sailing from Southampton, England. It will arrive in the United States on November 20.

During the transatlantic voyage, the 183,900 gross ton cruise ship will make stops in La Coruna and Vigo, Spain; Funchal, Madeira, Portugal; and Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain.

From her home in Miami, Carnival celebration will sail Western and Eastern Caribbean cruises ranging in length from five to eight nights.

Her first voyage from PortMiami, sailing Nov. 21, will be a six-night Eastern Caribbean cruise calling at Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos; Amber Cove, Dominican Republic and Nassau, Bahamas.
