MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) – After seven months in Mobile, it’s almost time to say goodbye to Carnival Ecstasy. The cruise ship will depart the port of Mobile after her final voyage to the Western Caribbean on October 10, 2022.
Carnival Ecstasy was the first cruise ship to return to Mobile after the global COVID-19 pandemic shut down everything, including cruise lines, for several months. Originally, Carnival Sensation was intended to replace previous ships docked in Mobile, including Carnival Fantasy and Carnival Fascination.
Carnival Ecstasy arrived in Mobile in March to cover some of Carnival Sensation’s previously scheduled sailings, however, some of Sensation’s sailings were canceled. When it was announced that Carnival Ecstasy was coming to Mobile, it said the ship would sail from March 10, 2022 to October 10, 2022. All scheduled sailings from October 15, 2022 to September 30, 2023 have been canceled.
Carnival Spirit will begin sailing to Mobile on October 22, 2023, until at least March 30, 2024. It is currently unknown what will happen after March 2024. Carnival Spirit will offer six-, seven-, and eight-day Western Caribbean cruises and Bahamas.
