AGOURA HILLS, CA – Local residents can support Agoura Hills schools while enjoying a carnival this holiday weekend.
The Foundation for Las Virgenes Schools kicked off its annual carnival to support the Las Virgenes Unified School District on Friday. The carnival runs through Monday at the Whizin Marketplace, 28914 Roadside Drive.
Entry to the carnival is free, but rides and tickets can be purchased ahead of time using this link.
Every year, this carnival attracts between 10,000 and 15,000 guests. Last year’s carnival was a huge hit, selling out more than years before and featuring a beer and wine garden for the first time.
The foundation helps fund local schools through donations with a focus on reducing class sizes, adding counselors and involving the local community in public education, according to the organization’s website. The foundation is run by parents on a volunteer basis and has donated more than $1.5 million to the district since 2011, according to its website.
“Great teachers. Insightful counselors. Without them, your child’s school is nothing more than rooms, buildings and furniture,” the foundation said on its website.
The carnival is open from 6pm to 11pm on Friday; Saturday from 14:00 to 23:00; 14:00 to 22:00 on Sunday; and Mondays from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
