Caught on video: Man, woman rob Bronx Family Dollar store, employee put in chokehold

NEW YORK – Police are looking for a man and woman who they said were caught on video robbing a family dollar store in the Bronx and assaulting an employee who tried to stop them.

It happened Aug. 14 at the Family Dollar on Webster Avenue in the Claremont section.

Police said a 23-year-old woman who worked at the store confronted the suspects when they tried to leave without paying.

The video showed the worker attempting to grab a cart from the female suspect, who attacked the worker and placed her in a choke hold. She went on to recount a struggle that ensued between the worker and the two suspects.

The worker suffered minor injuries and the suspects got away with an unknown amount of merchandise, according to police.

The woman police were looking for was described as about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 220 pounds, with a heavy build and long black hair in braids.

The man police were looking for was described as about 5 feet, 4 inches tall, with a thin build, a bald head and gray facial hair.
