Visitors will enter Claussville, an immersive Christmas Village featuring the lively sounds of Bahamian school choirs, indigenous dances, dramatic performances and the highly anticipated Bahamian Ornament Contest.

Adding to the excitement is Junkanoo, the heart of Bahamian culture, which will bring an explosion of color, music and dance to the festival. Handmade crafts and local dishes will also be for sale, offering visitors the opportunity to take home unique souvenirs and enjoy traditional Bahamian cuisine.

  • Abaco’s Light Up The Harbor Boat Parade – On Dec. 12, Marsh Harbor will sparkle as decorated boats parade through the harbor, creating a festive spectacle for all ages.
  • Exuma Christmas Lighting – The Exuma Islands will host a number of festive events throughout December, with the annual Christmas lighting on December 13.

Ring in the New Year at Atlantis and Baha Mar

The Greatest Show on Earth: Junkanoo

Junkanoo, the national cultural festival of the Bahamas, takes place on December 26 (Boxing Day) and January 1 (New Year’s Day). With its origins rooted in the African diaspora, Junkanoo is a vibrant celebration of Bahamian culture, with elaborate costumes, rhythmic music and energetic dancing.

The largest Junkanoo parade unfolds on Bay Street in downtown Nassau, but smaller parades and celebrations take place on Grand Bahama Island, Bimini, Eleuthera, Abaco and other islands. Known as the “Greatest Show on Earth,” Junkanoo is a joyous event that brings people together and welcomes visitors to participate. The Boxing Day Parade starts at 9pm and the New Year’s Day Parade starts at 2am.
