Chard Carnival’s Street Fayre to take place this weekend

CHARD Carnival Committees annual Street Fayre will take place this Saturday (September 10) from 9am to 4pm in Holyrood Street.

Jason Baker, chairman of the Chard Carnival Committee, said it will include over 50 stalls, including some great food, arts and crafts and much more.

There will be live music and entertainment on the main stage throughout the day, this will include a variety of music and dance acts.

All this coincides with the events of the National Heritage Open Days.

There will be plenty to do in Chard on Fayre Street, as well as on Fayre Street, the museum will be holding a ‘Water Exploration’ which will include talks on the history of the water that flows through every side of the town centre.

The Guildhall will host tours of the building including a trip up the clock tower.

  • 11.30am – 12.00pm Kelly Leigh School of Dance

  • 12:45-13:00 – Coronation of the Chard Carnival
  • 1pm-2pm – Jack Humphries
  • 14:00-14:30 – Belly Dance Heaven
  • 14:30-15:15 – Re-mastered Band
  • 3.15-4pm Tootin Hoodlums

Jason Baker, chairman of the Chard Carnival Committee, also said: “There are only a few weeks left until the main event that is the Chard Carnival.

“The children’s carnival will leave from the court school at noon and will make its way through the city.

“The evening carnival will start at 7.30pm from Tapstone Street making its way around the town ending at East Street.
