A very famous gastronomic chef had an extraordinary experience in Thailand, a country in Southeast Asia with its tropical beaches, luxurious royal palaces and many other historical features. This is what happened to Edson Alexandre, from Maxxima Gastronomia. Besides being known for his delicious cooking, especially in the Marquês de Sapucaí, during the five days of the RJ Samba Schools parades (including the presentation of the champions), the chef went to the kitchen every day during the trip, to prepare. something in the style of the Brazilian customers who were there, as Thai cuisine, despite being rich and exotic, is very spicy, which was strange to the Brazilian palate.
How did the invitation to travel to Thailand come about?
A client and a very good friend of mine rented a villa for two weeks and called me only to supervise the kitchen part of the house, as there was already a Thai chef there. I admit I liked it! It is always good to meet professional colleagues and, with them, exchange experiences, learn more and more! It’s just incredible!
As a chef, what dish have you tried? What do you think?
Although exotic, the food is very spicy. Thais do not know how to make them in any other way. But, I loved it!
Are there any Brazilian dishes you’ve prepared locally that have caught the attention of Thais? If so, which ones and why?
Probably what impressed them the most was the beef stroganoff. Although they loved it, they thought it lacked more spiciness.
What dish would you like to bring to Brazil?
In fact, I brought some sauces and also a great Corn Cake recipe that is worth a try! I’m suspicious! (Laughs). However, I recommend it!
