Chile and Costa Rica were elected to the United Nations Human Rights Council in a vote that prevented Venezuela’s re-election, the foreign ministries of both countries announced.
“With 144 votes, Chile has been elected with the first regional majority to the United Nations Human Rights Council for the period 2023-2025,” Chile’s Foreign Ministry wrote on Twitter.
For its part, the Foreign Ministry of Costa Rica emphasized “the support of all member countries for its candidacy”.
She recalls that Costa Rica has a place in the Council for the second time in its history since its creation in 2006. . .
