Crowds are preparing to welcome the Christchurch Carnival parade for the first time in two years.
The popular fixture is returning this weekend with a packed program of events, with organizers promising live music, a fun fair and fireworks.
Tomorrow’s (Saturday) activities will run from 10am-10pm, with stalls, live music and a funfair, followed by fireworks at 9pm.
However, due to the predicted heat, the dog show will not go ahead.
Sunday’s program will run from 11am-4pm, with the carnival parade starting at 1pm from Two Riversmeet car park.
A spokesperson for the carnival said: “We are so proud that the Christchurch Carnival remains a free event for all, while raising much needed funds for local causes.
“We look forward to seeing everyone again.”
Carnival goers are asked to bring their own loose change for charitable donations.
Last year the carnival weekend raised more than £1,000 for the Waterlily Project, Green Door for Families and the Absolute Music Trust.
This year it is sponsored by Christchurch Charitable Trust, Christchurch Town Council, Cookes Furniture and Hoburne Holidays.
