CHARLOTTE, NC (September 19, 2022) – Charlotte will host the 2022 Presidents Cup from Tuesday, September 20, through Sunday, September 25, at the Quail Hollow Club. The City of Charlotte is working alongside the PGA TOUR and its partners to help ensure everyone has a great experience at the event.
As expected with large-scale events, there will be a significant increase in traffic around Charlotte. Visitors and residents are asked to anticipate long travel times and exercise patience when traveling through town, especially in the Quail Hollow area.
Residents and visitors are strongly encouraged to use public transportation, ride sharing, and multimodal options. Multiple efficient transportation options will be available to ticket holders, including ride sharing via Uber and Lyft, a shuttle from the Charlotte Convention Center, and the LYNX Blue Line. Ticket holders traveling to the President’s Cup from Uptown may find the Charlotte Convention Center shuttle the most convenient and cost-effective mode of transportation.

Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS)

The Presidents Cup has partnered with CATS to provide light rail transportation. Ticket holders are encouraged to use the LYNX Blue Line which will transport fans to and from the event with multiple onboard locations en route to Quail Hollow. Riders must exit the light rail at the west Sharon Street station, where shuttles will then transport passengers to the main entrance.

CATS is planning to increase frequency on key routes in anticipation of increased journeys and will monitor journeys throughout the week.

Charlotte Department of Transportation (CDOT)

CDOT has suspended road construction in and around areas that will be most affected by Presidents Cup traffic and is working with its transportation partners to minimize construction impacts on traffic around Charlotte.

The Presidents Cup and CDOT have partnered to optimize tournament travel routes and ride-sharing options in order to reduce impacts on the surrounding community.

CDOT will monitor traffic for the duration of the Presidents Cup and adjust traffic signal timing as necessary to reduce congestion.

CDOT partnered with NCDOT to share event-related messages on dynamic overhead message boards on highways and interstates.
Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT)

CLT is working closely with partners and stakeholders to prepare for increased general aviation traffic to ensure minimal impacts on airport operations.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD)

CMPD expects a total crowd of about 200,000 at the Quail Hollow Club from September 20-25. CMPD expects commuter traffic to be affected, especially near Quail Hollow.

Solid Waste Services (SWS)

Solid Waste Services has changed collection times in select neighborhoods near Quail Hollow Golf Course and will collect trash, recycling, yard waste and bulk items at 5 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21. Residents affected by this change have been notified via mailing to their residence address and should place items to be collected at the curb Tuesday night. Normal collection hours will resume for affected residents the following week.
