CLEMSON, SC – The No. 8 Clemson Tigers will face top-seeded Duke on Sunday night in the ACC quarterfinals. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m., while the game will be broadcast on the ACC Network.
The Tigers enter the match 11-5-1 (3-4-1 ACC) after three straight wins over UMass, NC State and Notre Dame in the first round of the tournament. The Tigers convincingly defeated Notre Dame on Wednesday by a final score of 3-1. They advanced to their 12th ACC quarterfinal in coach Mike Noonan’s 13th season.
Wednesday marks the 62nd meeting between the conference foes, with Clemson leading the series 29-27-5. The Tigers are beating the Blue Devils 105-93. The two teams met last season in the ACC semifinals at Historic Riggs Field, with Duke winning 1-0. It was Clemson’s last loss of the 2021 season, as the team went on to win the National Championship. Clemson is 3-2-1 against Duke in the ACC Tournament.
Tigers standout Ousmane Sylla has led the way for Clemson, scoring five goals and dishing out six assists. He has a point in eight of his 14 games played this season and is sixth in the ACC in points per game (1.14).
He is joined atop Clemson’s scoring charts by senior forward Mohamed Seye, who has assisted on three of Sylla’s goals. He has added four of his own and also has four points in two games, bringing his season total to 14. He and Sylla are both tied for fourth most assists in the conference with six.
Duke enters the game undefeated with an 11-0-4 record, clinching the conference title and a first-round bye. Her last outing was a 1-0 win over Virginia Tech.
