CLEMSON, SC – The No. 8 Clemson Tigers will host ninth-seeded Notre Dame on Wednesday at Historic Riggs Field in the first round of the ACC Tournament. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m., while the game will be broadcast on the ACC Network.

The Tigers enter the match 1o-5-1 (3-4-1 ACC) after back-to-back wins over UMass and NC State. The Tigers earned the eighth seed and the right to host the game against Notre Dame through the third goal, ACC. Clemson needed all three of its goals against NC State on Friday to leapfrog the Fighting Irish for the eight-seed. Home field advantage is critical for the Tigers, as they lead the NCAA in cumulative attendance this season.

Wednesday marks the 13th meeting between the conference foes, with Clemson trailing the series 4-6-2. Despite the current streak, the Tigers are trailing Notre Dame 17-15. The two teams met twice last season, first during the regular season where the Fighting Irish earned a win at Historic Riggs Field. Second, the two teams battled in the College Cup semifinals to a penalty shootout, with the Tigers coming out on top 5-3. This is the fourth time these teams have met in the ACC Tournament, with the programs splitting the previous meetings 1-1-1, however Notre Dame advanced on penalty kicks after the tie.

Tigers standout Ousmane Sylla has led the way for Clemson, scoring five goals and dishing out six assists in 13 games so far. He has a point in eight of his 13 games played this season and is tied for third in the ACC in points per game (1.23).

He is joined atop Clemson’s scoring charts by senior forward Mohamed Seye, who has assisted on three of Sylla’s goals. He has added three of his own and also has four points in two games, bringing his season total to 12. He and Sylla are both tied for fourth most assists in the conference with six.

Notre Dame enters the game after a tough 1-1 draw at Pitt on Friday.
