Coalville to host demolition derby, cowboys, carnival at Summit County Fair

As the fair progresses, its schedule will only get busier with competitions, carnivals and youth programs on top of the main ticket events.

Fairgrounds events at Coalville City Park begin Saturday evening, with food and beverage vendors opening at 5 p.m., two hours before the demolition derby at 7 p.m.

On Tuesday, spectator events return with horse and rabbit shows in the large, small and livestock arenas.

On Wednesday and Thursday at 6 p.m., young lamb and veal riders will compete in the Little Buckaroo Rodeo in the big arena.

The carnival opens on Wednesday at 4pm on Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday and Saturday, people can enter at 11:00 a.m. and it closes at 11:00 p.m.

The arrival of the weekend brings big-ticket events, and more booths and entertainers during the days to boot.

On Friday and Saturday, cowboys with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association will be in the spotlight, a week after riding at the Wasatch County Fair. Their events include bull riding, barefoot riding, saddle riding, barrel racing, roping and steer wrestling.

The fair parade begins on the final day of the fair Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m., which will run from the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Building to Chalk Creek Road.

Also on Friday and Saturday, local youth projects will be featured in dozens of categories in agriculture, animal science, arts and civic engagement. They are part of the Utah State 4H Entrepreneurs competition.

The Junior Livestock auction also takes place on Saturday morning.

During both days, BalletNext performances, musical acts and youth groups will be on stage from noon until rodeo time.
