On December 15, the Legion of Goodwill distributed non-perishable food baskets to thousands of socially vulnerable and food-at-risk families through LGW’s traditional Perpetual Christmas Campaign – Jesus, Our Daily Bread!, which is the Theme of this edition is “Together to defeat hunger!”.
The action was supported by companies from different sectors such as the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Confederation (CBJJ), Prime Esportes, UNISUAM, Zonal Sul supermarkets, Mega Box, Supermercados Bramil and Super Rádio Brasil 940 AM.
The social mobilization benefited the families served throughout the year by the Institution and those assisted by partner organizations assisted by LBV. The initiative continues to mobilize donations with the support of volunteers, partners and society in general, to provide a dignified and hunger-free Christmas for the most vulnerable families.
In the capital city of Rio de Janeiro, more than 2,000 baskets were delivered to the José de Paiva Netto Educational Center, a LGW school unit located in the Del Castilho neighborhood. A total of more than 40 tons of food delivered on this date.
In the state of Rio de Janeiro, there will be more than 3,480 baskets that will total more than 76 tons of food items. We had the presence of several partners who helped the work of the Institution throughout the year. Among them we highlight the presence of friends of goodwill: Pedro Rizzo, the legendary Brazilian MMA fighter, Mrs. Undersecretary, Ricardo Martins, actor Victor Meirelles, Mrs. Elizângela Lima from the University Education of the Secretariat Corporation (UniverSeeduc) and wrestlers Mythis Richard, Kamily Cristine and Rebeca Camilli from the UPP Generation Project supported by Legintasil Vodadio da Boa and Super90 JAM.
It is worth noting that more than 50,000 food baskets will be sent to more than 250 locations in the five regions of the country. There is still time to help.
