Report of Tumaini Carayol from dramatic basketball 3×3:
That will be all for today’s live blog. Thanks for reading – and why not read Sean Ingle’s report on Adam Peaty’s men’s 50m breaststroke gold medal here:
Gold for England’s Hannah Cockcroft in the T33/34 Women’s 100m Final!
This is Hannah Cockcroft’s first Commonwealth Games gold medal! She leaves the field and is one-two with Kare Adenegan who wins the silver medal in 17.79 seconds.
The winning time is 16.84 seconds, a Commonwealth Games record.
Gold for England’s Emmanuel Oyinbo-Coker in the T45-47 Men’s 100m!
Wow, that was a performance from Oyinbo-Coker, who takes a gold medal in 10.94 seconds, a personal best. Jaydon Page wins silver in 11.10 seconds, with Ola Abidogu (England) third in 11.13 seconds.
“I would say it went perfectly to plan,” Oyinbo-Coker tells the BBC. “It almost feels like a dream … last night, I was just thinking about different scenarios … the main thought I had was as long as I came here and did my best, I would be satisfied.”
Netball for women: New Zealand beat Trinidad and Tobago 80-24 to seal their place in the semi-finals. They still have to face England on Thursday in a match that will decide top spot in Group B. Australia and Jamaica will be the semi-finalists, being the top two teams in Group A.
England Men’s 3×3 Team has been asked on the BBC who is responsible for tonight’s celebrations. Orlan Jackman, the captain, answers in style: “We all are,” he replies. “Listen, we’re a team. My name may be captain on paper, but we do everything by committee, so whatever we decide is what we decide. But I do know one thing though… We celebrate for sure.”
Myles Hesson talks to the BBC after that stunning gold-medal-winning throw for England’s men’s 3×3 team: “I’m still lost for words. I couldn’t have written a better story. In overtime, it was such a close game, there were so many points that we thought we were going to lose … we did it … My shot was just the icing on the cake.”

Mollie O’Callaghan has upset Emma McKeon and Shayne Jack to win Commonwealth Games gold in the women’s 100m freestyle, while Cody Simpson finished fifth in the men’s 100m butterfly final on the penultimate day of swimming.
Gold for Canada in women’s 3×3 basketball!
Even more drama in 3×3! With seconds left on the clock, Sarah Te-Biasu has the ball for Canada, and she manages to get her shot away just before the buzzer… the officials double check, so make sure the ball left her hand before the buzzer sounded. .. and indeed it sounded. Canada wins the gold medal! England is ruined!
Gold for Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo in the men’s 10,000m!
Olympic bronze medalist Kiplimo clocked a time of 27 minutes 09.19 seconds, breaking Joshua Cheptegei’s Commonwealth Games record he set in 2018.
Women’s T20 Cricket: New Zealand (147-7) defeated Sri Lanka (102-8) by 45 runs in Group B.
New Zealand and England have won two out of two, South Africa and Sri Lanka have lost two out of two. Which means England and New Zealand are both in the semi-finals.

Silver for England’s Molly Caudery in the pole vault!
Nina Kennedy of Australia wins gold, Molly Caudery of England wins silver and Imogen Ayris (Australia) wins bronze.
“[The World Championships in] Eugene was such a disappointment and that makes it even sweeter,” Caudery told the BBC. “It feels like a dream … I had a vivid dream last night that I came third, and I woke up and said, ‘Oh , it was a dream.” … and now I’m here, and I came second!
“After Eugene, me and my coach went through everything, what I did wrong, what we could change, changing my mentality and focusing.”
Fantastic replay photo from the BBC studio of Ovie Soko, professional basketball player and presenter Ayo Akinwolere celebrating the moment of victory.
Gold for England in men’s 3×3 basketball!

Commonwealth Games stars staying away will regret missing out on glory in Birmingham, challenger organizers have insisted.
Four world champions from Eugene have missed the Games, including women’s 100m gold medalist Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who is in Birmingham to train but has opted instead to compete in Europe next week future.
Men’s 3×3 basketball: The final between Australia and England is underway. Australia lead 9-8 with almost four minutes remaining.
Netball for women: Chloe Merrell reports from England’s win against Uganda:
Peaty speaks to the BBC: “A much happier man. I had two options this morning: either to fight, or not to fight. And if anyone knows me, I fight. This means a lot to me because of what I’ve been through these last few months, the last year, the last five years … I lost my spark earlier in the week, so I’m getting it back now …
“I’m very happy … A lot of emotions yesterday … I reached the bottom yesterday … I had to lift myself, in my mind, and this is the result … This is the only one that I did not have earned in my career … I can retire now [he’s joking] … I don’t care about statistics.
“You know what, I’m really glad I had that loss earlier in the week because these wins feel so much better.”
Peat tries to throw his swimming cap into the crowd as he celebrates … and he fails. He has another move and succeeds this time.
There’s also, to brag about, a bronze medal for Ross Murdoch from lane eight – Sam Williamson wins silver for Australia.
1) Adam Peaty (ENG) 26.76 sec
2) Sam Williamson (AUS) 26.97 sec
3) Ross Murdoch (SCO) 27.32 sec
Gold for England’s Adam Peaty in the men’s 50m breaststroke!
He did it! He has won every medal there is to win. This, the Commonwealth Games 50m is the only gold medal that has eluded him so far. He said he would fight and he was as good as his word.
Swimming: Here we go then. Swimmers are ready to go … Peaty looks ready for it, and that’s an understatement.
Swimming: The pool lights have been dimmed and several colored floodlights are circling the arena ahead of Adam Peaty and his rivals in the final of the 50m breaststroke…
Netball for women: New Zealand lead Trinidad and Tobago 22-5 after the first quarter in their Group B.
Swimming: Adam Peaty will soon step up to the 50m breaststroke. It’s business time! (Almost.)
