The national U-15 cricket team left Guyana for Grenada on Thursday to compete in the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Under-15 Super50 tournament, which will begin on Saturday, August 20.

“The team, which is coached by Latchman Yadram, is confident of doing well in this tournament after recently completing an eight-day camp in which they played three practice matches,” the Guyana Cricket Board said in a release to Press.

“This gave the players the opportunity to adjust their game after a prolonged rainy season, which affected the camp preparation of all previous national teams.”

Dave Mohabir, brother of U-17 and U-19 national team captain Alvin Mohabir, has been selected to lead the team, while talented batsman Romario Ramdeholl is his deputy. The squad also includes Adrian Hetmyer, the nephew of senior West Indies batsman Shimron Hetmyer.

Guyana will open the tournament against the Windward Islands on Saturday August 20 at the Grenada National Stadium. On August 21, they face Barbados in Lasagesse in the second round, while on August 23 they will face the Leeward Islands at the Grenada National Stadium.

Guyana will face Jamaica at Progress Park on August 25, then close the tournament with their final game against Trinidad and Tobago in Lasagesse.
