Do you know that Mr. Robert Alphonso Nelson, known as Lord Nelson, is a veteran of the Korean War? Therefore, I found this to be an honorable mention. There is much to be said for his stellar and glamorous aura at the age of 91.
Congratulations to our cultural icon awarded an Honorary Doctor of Letters (DLitt) at the 2022 UWI graduation. Saint Augustine. His influence in the socio-cultural sphere gives us a sense of pride as such virtuosity is unparalleled.
This is well deserved for the venerable son of the soil with a career spanning over six decades. Always decked out in the signature jumpsuit, the high energy ‘Disco Daddy’ doesn’t hold back. The persistence can be seen. Passion is never a mystery. Calypso isn’t just a thing of the past, but it’s still very far apart. This genre of music has the ability to bring everyone together and send everyone into an exhilarating high. Culture and artistic expressions make this possible.
Last Monday, October 24, tributes were paid at the Tobago Music Arts and Culture Festival. Despite the rain, it didn’t stop the TOMAC Festival. There is always much to celebrate.
