COP27, the Climate Conference organized by the UN, is the topic of the moment and the environment is not only important, but urgent, but where does fashion come into this? Considered by many to be the second most polluting industry after the oil and gas sector, fashion is undoubtedly the talk of #COP27.
Panels, lectures and meetings are not only for debating urgent issues and proposing actions, but also for formalizing commitments in search of a better future. Below we highlight some of the relevant topics discussed in the last week, when the topic is fashion.
– Major fashion groups, such as H&M, Zara, Kering and more than 30 names in the market, have already committed to buying more than half a million tons of alternative fibers and fabrics with low environmental impact. Another affirmative action is the best – and most durable – choice of wrapping paper
– Global Fashion Agenda, an NGO that promotes sustainability and the fashion agenda to accelerate positive impact, presented relevant guidelines and proposals to be affirmed by several names in the fashion market present at COP27.
– More positive (and less long) path between textile industry materials; Alliances most committed to decarbonizing the fashion chain; More innovative low-carbon solutions to help reduce climate impact and protect forests; Stronger actions to promote circular fashion and recycling; More respectful and safe working environments with good wages.
– Do you think that Brazil is out of this event? In addition to the presence of the president-elect, Lula and Marina Silva, Brazilian brands were also invited to COP27! It’s worth paying attention to names like @renner @malwee, @
Now, how can these ambitious and truly transformative proposals be honored? The organization called for faster investment, broader (but realistic) targets and more ambitious alliances across the value chain.
