Coquetel de apresentação da Galeria Provisória de Thives

“Provisional Gallery”, by Anderson Thieves, also in pop-up version

The plastic artist opens space in Botafogo Praia Shopping

Keeping her itinerant vocation, the democratization of art in different spaces for indefinite periods, Temporary Gallery, from plastic artist Anderson Thivestakes up space in Botafogo Praia Shoppingin a pop-up version, as of August 15.

In addition to promoting a tour in its exhibitions, Thives gives an “Instagrammable” touch to the environment, so that visitors can make their posts in a conceptual and fun environment, following the design of the project. The initiative, a partnership with mall manager Ancar Invanhoe, was born from the idea of bringing culture to those who frequent the development, thinking of new projects by the artist in addition to preview from other exhibitions.

This Tuesday, 23/08, the artist promoted the opening cocktail and the presentation for the guests.

The artist received friends and some acquaintances such as:

– Malu Magalhães, Dandara Albuquerque, Thalita Rebouças, etc.

“It’s a pleasure for Botafogo Praia Shopping to receive an exhibition as innovative as Thives. Such actions reinforce our commitment to the residents of the neighborhood and the surrounding area, offering free and quality cultural opportunities. In this way, we encourage our visitors to have a closer contact with art”, celebrates Juliana Haddad, the company’s marketing manager.

Specializing in collages and inspired by Pop Art icons, the artist uses around five thousand colored pieces per square meter in his creations.

The gallery will occupy the second floor, opposite the L’Occitane au Brésil store.

Admission is free, and some works will be on display only, while selected others will be for sale. Among the chosen topics are: reinterpretations of great painters, such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Van Gogh, Salvador Dalí and Frida Kahlo, in addition to an authorial series.

“The main objective, more than selling, is to bring art and new perspectives to the local public.

The concept of configuring itself as a large installation, as in the Ipanema gallery, is the same, now more compact and somewhat intimate. It’s a great tour option! Botafogo, as a super cool neighborhood, deserves this program on the agenda”Thieves said.

About the Temporary Gallery

Conceived by architect Aline Araújo in partnership with Thives, the gallery opened earlier this year, in the heart of Ipanema, on a property belonging to Aline’s family company. Its transience creates an analogy with the current times of the pandemic. In this first occupation, he brought a retrospective of Thive’s career: around 40 pieces covering exhibitions held since the beginning, as well as recent projects, which include previews of new exhibitions and installations. All of this appeared during the permanent months, with the proposal to collaborate with other artists who dialogue with the proposal of the space. Recently, the artist held a large instagram panel at Píer Mauá, in front of the Rio Art Museum, in celebration of LGBTQIA+ Pride month.
