CPL teams train at UWI | Local Sports

As excitement in Trinidad and Tobago and around the region grows with the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL), the St Augustine Sports Academy of the University of the West Indies (UWI) Faculty of Sports has also been abuzz with training activity.

“The Faculty of Sports is delighted that the CPL has used the St Augustine Sports Academy facilities as the sole training ground for all teams involved in the CPL XI.

“This together with our partnership in delivering the UWI CPL Sports Marketing Course this year speaks to the strong link,” said Dr Akshai Mansingh, Dean of the Faculty of Sport and CPL’s Chief Medical Officer.

“Very few institutions can offer such multidimensional offerings and we look forward to further areas where we can discover our shared potential,” he added.

On Tuesday, members of the Jamaica Tallawahs team and coaching staff led by West Indies legends Shivnarine Chanderpaul, UWI Honorary Graduate (2018) and Sir Curtly Ambrose were on the ground. Also in attendance were UWI St Augustine Campus alumni Amir Jangoo who was nominated for the 2020 Vice Chancellor Sportsman of the Year Award and UWI Men’s Cricket Coach Keshava Ramphal (analyst).
